Removing and Resetting Your Thermostat

Learn how to remove a thermostat from your account, reset it, or prepare it for a new owner.

Removing a Thermostat from Your Account

Removing a thermostat disconnects it from your Mysa account. The thermostat will still work as a basic manual thermostat, but you won't be able to control it from the app.

To Remove

  1. Open the Mysa app
  2. Select the thermostat
  3. Go to thermostat settings
  4. Scroll down and tap Remove Thermostat
  5. Confirm removal

The thermostat is now removed from your account and can be paired to a new account.

When to Remove a Thermostat

  • Moving out — Remove thermostats so the new owner can pair them
  • Selling your home — Remove all thermostats before handing over keys
  • Troubleshooting — Sometimes removing and re-pairing fixes issues
  • Giving to someone else — Remove so they can set it up fresh

Re-Pairing After Removal

After removing a thermostat:

  1. Put it into pairing mode (hold up + down for 10 seconds)
  2. Open the Mysa app
  3. Tap Add Mysa and follow the pairing steps

If You Can't Access the Original Account

If a thermostat is paired to an account you no longer have access to (e.g., you bought a home with Mysa installed), contact support. We can help remove it from the previous owner's account so you can pair it to yours.

Provide:

  • Your name and email
  • Proof of residence or ownership
  • The thermostat's serial number (on the back of the device)

Factory Reset

A factory reset clears all settings and returns the thermostat to its original state. This is useful when:

  • Giving the thermostat to a new owner
  • Troubleshooting persistent issues
  • Starting fresh after major problems

To Factory Reset

  1. Remove the thermostat from your account in the app
  2. Put the thermostat into pairing mode (hold up + down for 10 seconds)
  3. The thermostat is now ready for a new setup

The thermostat will enter pairing mode, waiting to be paired to an account.

After Resetting

The new owner (or you) can pair the thermostat as if it were new:

  1. Download the Mysa app
  2. Create an account or sign in
  3. Tap Add Mysa
  4. Follow the pairing steps
