Ownership Transfer for a Used Thermostat
Last updated: October 28, 2026
A used Mysa can be on the account of the previous owner. This can occur when you buy a used Mysa, or when you move into a home with Mysa thermostats. The Mysa app then shows Can Not Pair This Mysa when you pair the Mysa. This message tells you that the Mysa is on the account of a different user.
Ask the previous owner
Ask the previous owner to remove the Mysa from their account. Then pair the Mysa in your account.
Ask Mysa support for an ownership transfer
If the previous owner cannot remove the Mysa, do these steps:
- Turn off the circuit breaker. Make sure that the power is off.
- Loosen the screw on the bottom of the front plate. Then slide the front plate off Mysa. The serial number is behind the front plate.
- Take a clear photo of the serial number.
- Put the front plate on Mysa. It glides into place. Tighten the screw on the bottom of the front plate. Do not overtighten the screw.
- Turn on the circuit breaker.
- Send an email to support@getmysa.com with the photo. Ask for an ownership transfer.
After you send the email
Mysa support makes sure that the Mysa and the previous account are correct. Then Mysa support removes the Mysa from the previous account. Then you can pair the Mysa in your account.
To pair the Mysa, tap +, then tap Add a Mysa. For the full steps, refer to Pairing Your Mysa for Baseboards.
