Pairing Your Mysa for Baseboards
This guide walks you through connecting your Mysa for Baseboards to the Mysa app.
Before You Begin
Latest Mysa app: Check the App Store or Google Play to make sure you have the latest version. Requires iOS 15.0 or later, or Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later.
Primary account user: You must be the primary user of the Mysa account to add a thermostat. If you're a shared user, you won't be able to add new devices.
Thermostat powered on and displaying the Pairing Mode icon
Phone's Bluetooth enabled — Bluetooth 4.0 or higher required
Your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name and password ready — Double-check your password before starting. Common mistakes include capitalizing the first letter or adding trailing spaces.
Phone within 1–2 meters of the thermostat
Pairing Mode Icons
V2 and Lite: Bluetooth symbol
Legacy V1: Wi-Fi symbol (upside down triangle)
If you don't see a pairing icon, the thermostat may already be paired or needs to be put into pairing mode.
Pairing Steps (V2 and Lite)
1. Open the Mysa App
Sign in to your account (or create one if you haven't already).
2. Add Your Thermostat
Tap Add Mysa from the main menu
Select Mysa for Baseboards from the product list
Grant Bluetooth permission when prompted
3. Connect via Bluetooth
Tap Next while standing near your thermostat
Tap Identify to confirm you've selected the correct device (the thermostat will flash)
Accept the pairing notification on your phone
Name your thermostat (e.g., "Living Room" or "Bedroom")
4. Connect to Wi-Fi
Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
Enter your Wi-Fi password
Wait for the connection to complete
Note Mysa requires a 2.4 GHz network. If you only see your 5 GHz network, check your router settings to enable 2.4 GHz.
5. Select Your Heater Type
Choose the heater type that matches your heating system:
Baseboard — For electric baseboard and convection heaters
Fan-forced — For heaters with fans (including toe kick heaters)
Radiant — For radiant ceiling or panel heaters
See Selecting Your Heater Type for details.
6. Firmware Update
After connecting, the app may install a firmware update. Firmware updates are delivered over-the-air (OTA) via the Mysa app. Keep the thermostat powered and the app open until the update completes — this can take several minutes.
Tip Apply any available firmware updates before connecting your thermostat to smart home platforms like Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, or Google Home.
Pairing Steps (Legacy V1)
Legacy V1 units use Wi-Fi pairing instead of Bluetooth:
Open the Mysa app and tap Add Mysa
Select Mysa for Baseboards
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to the thermostat's Wi-Fi hotspot
Enter your home Wi-Fi credentials
The thermostat will connect to your network
Success
Once complete, you'll see:
Your thermostat on the app home screen
Current room temperature displayed
Status shows Online
Troubleshooting
Thermostat Not Appearing
Move closer (within 1–2 meters)
Toggle Bluetooth off and back on
Close and reopen the Mysa app
Check if the thermostat is linked to another account:
If you purchased a used thermostat or moved into a home with existing Mysa devices, the thermostat may be linked to the previous owner's account
Contact support@getmysa.com to verify if the device is linked to an account
Ownership Transfer
If your thermostat is linked to a previous owner's account, you'll need to request an ownership transfer:
Locate the serial number inside the faceplate:
Unscrew the screw at the bottom of the thermostat
Slide the front cover off to access the serial number
Take a clear photo of the serial number
Email support@getmysa.com with the photo to request ownership transfer
Re-entering Pairing Mode
V2 and Lite: Hold both the up and down controls for 10 seconds until the Bluetooth symbol appears.
V1: Hold both up and down arrows for 10 seconds until the Wi-Fi symbol appears.
Pairing Fails Repeatedly
Close the app completely
Soft reboot the thermostat (hold up + down for 10 seconds)
Wait for the pairing icon to appear
Reopen the app and try again
Wi-Fi Connection Fails
Confirm you're using a 2.4 GHz network (not 5 GHz)
Check that your Wi-Fi password is correct
Move your router closer or check for signal strength issues
Restart your router if needed
iOS:
Connect your phone to your 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network before starting the pairing process
Bluetooth must be ON
Location Services must be ON with Precise Location enabled for the Mysa app
Local Network Access must be enabled for the Mysa app (Settings > Privacy > Local Network)
Mobile data must be OFF during pairing
Battery saver mode must be OFF during pairing
Android:
Connect your phone to your 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network before starting the pairing process
Bluetooth must be ON
Location must be ON (required for Bluetooth scanning)
Wi‑Fi Assist or Smart Network Switch must be OFF (this feature can disconnect from Mysa during pairing)
Mobile data must be OFF during pairing
Battery saver mode must be OFF during pairing
Router Settings
If pairing repeatedly fails, check these router settings:
Security: Use WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 Transitional (not WPA3 only)
MAC Filtering: Disable or add your thermostat's MAC address
Band Steering: Disable if your router automatically switches devices between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
Hidden Network: If your network is hidden, try temporarily making it visible during setup
Mesh or Merged Networks
If you have a mesh Wi-Fi system or a router that merges 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into one network name:
Check if your router has a setting to separate the bands
If not, temporarily create a guest network on 2.4 GHz only for setup
Some mesh systems (like Google Wifi, Eero) work fine — try pairing closer to the main router node
After successful pairing, the thermostat will stay connected even on merged networks
True Hard Reset
If you've tried everything above and pairing still won't work, do a full reset of all devices:
Reboot your phone — Power it off completely, then turn it back on
Reboot your router — Unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in
Enter pairing mode — Hold up + down on the thermostat for 10 seconds until the pairing icon appears
Hard reboot the thermostat — Turn off the breaker that powers your thermostat, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on
Wait a few minutes — Let your phone, router, and thermostat fully boot up before continuing
Start fresh — Open the Mysa app and begin the pairing process again
Network Diagnostics Tool
If you're experiencing connectivity issues during or after pairing, the Mysa app includes a built-in Network Diagnostics tool. This tool helps identify Wi-Fi signal strength problems, network configuration issues, and other connectivity concerns.
To launch the Network Diagnostics tool:
Open the Mysa app
Tap the Support button in the top-right corner of the screen
Select Network Diagnostics
Follow the on-screen prompts to run a diagnostic check
The tool will analyze your network environment and provide recommendations to improve your connection. This is especially helpful if your thermostat has trouble staying connected or if pairing repeatedly fails.
