Shared User vs. Primary Account Holder

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Mysa accounts have two levels of access. Understanding which one you have explains what you can and can't do in the app.

Primary Account Holder

  • Can add and remove devices

  • Can invite and manage shared users

  • Can manage account-level settings

Shared User

  • Can view and control existing devices

  • Cannot add new thermostats

  • Cannot manage account settings or other users

Need to Become the Primary Holder?

This comes up most often when you've bought a home with existing Mysa devices, or inherited an account informally (e.g. from a family member). Contact support — this typically requires verification before the change is made.
