Shared User vs. Primary Account Holder
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Mysa accounts have two levels of access. Understanding which one you have explains what you can and can't do in the app.
Primary Account Holder
Can add and remove devices
Can invite and manage shared users
Can manage account-level settings
Shared User
Can view and control existing devices
Cannot add new thermostats
Cannot manage account settings or other users
Need to Become the Primary Holder?
This comes up most often when you've bought a home with existing Mysa devices, or inherited an account informally (e.g. from a family member). Contact support — this typically requires verification before the change is made.
