High Energy Bills After Installing Mysa
Last updated: August 25, 2026
If the bill rose after installing Mysa for Baseboards, start with schedule and holds before assuming the thermostat is using extra power.
Schedule and Holds
Confirm each thermostat has a schedule and is not sitting on a high manual setpoint all day
Clear holds and tap Resume Schedule if a hold is keeping heat up
Lower setpoints when asleep or away. ENERGY STAR recommends about 7°C (12°F) cooler while away and 4°C (7°F) cooler while sleeping
Shortcuts, Geofencing, and Early On
Confirm the Away shortcut actually lowers temperature
If several people share the Home, geofencing can stay in Home mode until everyone has left
Early On (V2 and V1) can start heating earlier so the room is ready on time — that adds runtime
Device Settings
Heater Type should match the system (baseboard, fan-forced, or radiant)
Timezone should be correct so the schedule runs at the right hour
Min/Max setpoint limits in Device Settings stop accidental high setpoints
Other Causes
Mysa is often more accurate than an old dial, so the room may now actually reach the number on the display
More rooms with thermostats means more space being heated
Drafts, open windows, and a colder month will raise use even with the same schedule
On V2 and V1, open Energy to compare days after you change the schedule. Lite has no energy chart.
