Cost Estimate Looks Wrong

Last updated: September 2, 2026

The in-app cost is an estimate from your electricity rate, not a copy of the utility bill. Tiered and time-of-use plans will not match line-for-line.

Set the rate

  1. Manage Homes > select the Home > Edit Home > Electricity Rate, or thermostat settings > Electricity Rate on some baseboard models.

  2. Enter the $/kWh from your bill. For tiered or time-of-use plans, use your average or most common rate — the estimate stays directional.

  3. Each Home has its own rate. Changing one Home does not update another.

If the number still looks off

  • Wrong Home selected, or rate entered as cents vs dollars (0.12 vs 12).

  • Lite has no kWh measurement, so it cannot produce a measured energy cost chart.

  • Mini-split Insights convert runtime with the rate; they do not measure consumption.

For true billed cost, use the utility bill. Use the app to compare similar weather days after you change a schedule.
