Can’t Move a Thermostat Between Homes

Thermostats cannot be dragged from one Home to another. You remove them from the current Home, then pair them to the destination Home. Removing a thermostat clears its schedules and settings — you will set those up again after pairing.

Steps

  1. Switch to the Home that currently has the thermostat (tap the Home name on the home screen).

  2. Open the thermostat > settings > Remove Thermostat.

  3. Switch to the destination Home.

  4. Add / pair the thermostat again with the usual pairing flow for that product.

If Remove is missing or pairing never finds it

  • Shared users cannot remove or pair devices. Sign in as the owner, or ask the owner to move it.

  • If this is a used thermostat still on a previous account, removing it from your Home will not help until that account releases it. See Sharing Won’t Transfer a Used Thermostat.
