Phone Settings for Pairing
Last updated: July 23, 2026
Certain phone settings can interfere with Bluetooth pairing or Wi-Fi handoff. Check these before assuming the thermostat itself is the problem.
iOS
Connect your phone to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network before starting the pairing process
Bluetooth must be ON
Location Services must be ON with Precise Location enabled for the Mysa app
Local Network Access must be enabled for the Mysa app (Settings > Privacy > Local Network)
Android
Connect your phone to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network before starting the pairing process
Bluetooth must be ON
Location must be ON (required for Bluetooth scanning on Android)
Wi-Fi Assist or Smart Network Switch must be OFF — this feature can disconnect your phone from Mysa mid-pairing
Mobile data must be OFF during pairing
Battery saver mode must be OFF during pairing
Why These Matter
Several of these settings (Wi-Fi Assist, mobile data, battery saver) can cause your phone to silently switch networks or throttle background connections mid-pairing, which looks like a thermostat problem but is actually your phone routing around the connection.
