Reconnect After Wi-Fi Disconnection

If your Mysa for Baseboards has gone offline, this guide walks you through the most common causes and how to reconnect. This is different from initial pairing issues — for that, see Pairing & Wi-Fi Troubleshooting.

Why Your Mysa Disconnects
Router restart — power outage or ISP issue temporarily dropped the connection
Wi-Fi password changed — your Mysa still has the old password saved
New router — you replaced your router or switched ISPs
Network congestion — too many devices on your 2.4 GHz band
Router settings changed — band steering, MAC filtering, or network name changes
Weak signal — Mysa is too far from your router or access point
Reconnect After a Router Restart
Most disconnections resolve automatically after a router restart:
Confirm your Wi-Fi is working — check that other devices can connect to your 2.4 GHz network
Power cycle your Mysa — turn off the breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on
Wait 2–3 minutes — open the Mysa app and let the thermostat reconnect automatically
Check if it reconnected — press a button on the thermostat. If it shows the Bluetooth pairing symbol instead of the temperature, it lost its Wi-Fi credentials and needs to be added again (see below)
Note: Mysa for Baseboards only connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router combines both bands under one name, you may need to temporarily disable 5 GHz or create a separate 2.4 GHz network.
When Wi-Fi Credentials Are Lost
If your Mysa's Wi-Fi credentials were accidentally reset, or your Wi-Fi password changed, you'll need to add the device again.
How to tell if credentials are lost: press any button on the thermostat — if the Bluetooth pairing symbol appears instead of the temperature display, your Mysa has lost its Wi-Fi credentials.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
Open the Mysa app and tap Add Device
Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Mysa to Wi-Fi
When prompted, put your Mysa into pairing mode — press and hold both up and down arrows for 10 seconds. The Bluetooth symbol should appear on the display.
Select your 2.4 GHz network and enter your Wi-Fi password
Complete the setup process
Note: if your Mysa was already connected to your account, it will automatically restore your original settings, including schedules and configuration, after reconnecting.
Tip: if the Bluetooth symbol doesn't appear when you hold the buttons, try holding for a full 10 seconds without releasing early.
Connect to a New Router
Confirm your new router has a 2.4 GHz network enabled
Note your new network name (SSID) and password
Follow the When Wi-Fi Credentials Are Lost steps above to add your device to the new network
Tip: if your new router uses the same network name and password as your old router, your Mysa should reconnect automatically after a power cycle.
Fix Persistent Connection Issues
If your Mysa still won't connect after the steps above, check these:
Router Settings to Check
Band steering — disable this feature, or create a dedicated 2.4 GHz network
MAC filtering — add your Mysa's MAC address to the allowed list (find it in Device Settings → Device Info)
Hidden network — Mysa can connect to hidden networks, but you'll need to enter the SSID manually during setup
Firewall and ports — confirm your router or firewall isn't blocking outgoing connections the device needs
Router Placement and Capacity
Distance from router — if your thermostat is far from your router or has walls/floors between them, consider moving your router or adding a Wi-Fi extender
Older routers — a router that's several years old may struggle to maintain stable connections as you add more smart home devices
Network congestion — the 2.4 GHz band has limited capacity; consider upgrading to a modern router with better 2.4 GHz performance if you have many Wi-Fi devices
Network Diagnostics Tool
If your thermostat keeps disconnecting or won't reconnect, use the built-in Network Diagnostics tool:
Open the Mysa app
Tap Support (top-right corner)
Select Network Diagnostics
Tap Run Diagnostics and wait for all checks to complete
What it checks:
Wi-Fi Connection — displays your current network name (SSID). On Android, it also shows signal strength (in dBm with a quality rating like Excellent, Good, or Weak) and whether you're on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz
Speed Tests — download speed, upload speed, and latency; slow speeds or high latency can cause intermittent disconnections
Mysa Services — verifies your phone can reach Mysa's cloud services (API and MQTT); green means reachable, red suggests a connectivity issue between your network and Mysa's servers
Tip: if the Wi-Fi Connection check reports a 5 GHz band, your phone is connected to 5 GHz — make sure your router's 2.4 GHz band is enabled and your thermostat is connected to it.
Note: the diagnostics tool requires location permission to retrieve Wi-Fi network information. If prompted, allow location access so the tool can complete all checks.
