Can stranded low-voltage thermostat wires be connected to a Mysa Smart Thermostat?

Answer

Yes. Mysa Smart Thermostat can be used with stranded low-voltage wires as long as each wire is inserted securely and the terminal spring clamp fully engages the conductor.

If the stranded wire is difficult to insert cleanly or does not stay secure in the terminal, use one of these approaches:

• Use an appropriately sized crimped ferrule or pin connector on the stranded wire.

• Use a short pigtail from the stranded wire to a solid 18 AWG copper thermostat wire, then insert the solid wire into the Mysa terminal.

Before you start

• Turn off power to the HVAC system before handling thermostat wiring.

• Confirm the wire is low-voltage thermostat wiring, not line-voltage wiring.

• After insertion, gently tug each wire to confirm it is held securely by the terminal.

• If you are unsure about the wiring or connector type, contact Mysa Support or a qualified HVAC professional before continuing.

What to avoid

• Do not leave loose strands exposed outside the terminal.

• Do not force oversized connectors into the terminal.
