Can I turn off the flashing light visible to night-vision cameras?

Last updated: October 26, 2026

Audience: Mysa Customers

Some security cameras or night-vision cameras can show the proximity or ambient-light sensor on a Mysa Baseboard thermostat as a small flashing light. This is normally only visible through cameras, not to the naked eye.

Can I disable it?

There is not an app setting that turns off the sensor or emitter itself. The Wake on Approach setting controls whether the thermostat display wakes when someone approaches. It does not necessarily power down the sensor/emitter that a camera may see.

Can I cover it?

Covering the sensor area should not affect heating or basic thermostat control. However, it can block Wake on Approach and may affect ambient-light or adaptive-brightness behavior. If you cover that area, confirm the display and brightness behavior still work the way you expect.

When to contact support

Contact Mysa Support if the flashing is visible without a camera, the display behaves unexpectedly, or the thermostat stops responding normally. Include your product model, app version, firmware version if available, and a photo or video that does not include private information.
