When You Only Have 2 Wires

Mysa for Electric Baseboard Heaters needs 4 wires in the gang box of your thermostat. That is two cables with two wires in each cable, not counting the ground wire. This article tells you what to do if you find only 2 wires.

Before you remove your thermostat from the wall to look at the wires, turn off the circuit breaker. Make sure that the power is off.

Count the wires again

Count all the wires in the gang box, not counting the ground wire. Some wires can be at the back of the gang box. If your gang box has more wires, the step-by-step guide in the Mysa app and at getmysa.com/baseboard covers that. For all the wiring details, see Wiring Requirements.

Only 2 wires?

• 2 wires at 24 V: use Mysa for Central HVAC (the Mysa Smart Thermostat) with a C-wire adapter.

• 2 wires at 120 V on one cable: Mysa for Electric Baseboard Heaters is not compatible. A compatible Mysa will be available later in 2027. For now, you can return your Mysa. Return shipping is free. Or you can install your Mysa in a different room that has 4 wires.
