Shared User vs. Primary Account Holder
Last updated: August 25, 2026
Mysa Homes have two access levels. Which one you have explains almost every “the button does nothing” report on a shared login.
Primary account holder (Home owner)
The person who created the Home and paired the thermostats. They can add and remove devices, invite and remove shared users, edit Home settings (name, address, electricity rate), set up geofencing and Smart Alerts, create and save schedules, and delete the Home.
Shared user
Invited by the owner to that Home. They sign in with their own Mysa account — they do not use the owner’s password. They can view and control thermostats, adjust temperature and mode, use shortcuts, and apply schedules the owner already saved. Sharing is the whole Home, not one thermostat.
Limits that surprise people
Shared users do not receive Smart Alerts.
They cannot pair devices, invite others, or change geofencing setup.
On many Homes they cannot create or save a new schedule — Save Schedule does nothing. Ask the owner to save it, then apply it.
Mini-split and in-floor help articles describe more schedule editing for shared users. If Save works on one product and not another, treat that as a product difference, not a broken account.
Need the other person to own the hardware? That is an ownership transfer or a remove-and-re-pair, not sharing.
