Encountering a "Failed to Connect" Error? Here's How to Fix It

Experiencing a hiccup while trying to connect your Mysa thermostat to WiFi, whether it’s your first attempt or following some recent network changes, can be frustrating. If you're greeted with a "Failed to Connect" message, don’t worry. This guide is designed to help you swiftly overcome this obstacle, ensuring your Mysa is up and running smoothly.

This error might pop up under a few different circumstances:

  • During the initial setup of your Mysa, when attempting to connect it to WiFi for the first time.
  • When trying to reconnect your thermostat after changing your network's name or settings.
  • If you're selecting a new WiFi network for your thermostat, differing from the one it was previously connected to.

Important Note: If your thermostat was already connected to WiFi without any network changes on your part, or if you're troubleshooting a different Mysa device, please refer to our dedicated article on Wi-Fi and connection troubleshooting for more specific guidance.

Here’s What You Can Do:

  • Restart Your Thermostat

Giving your thermostat a quick restart can often clear up the issue, allowing for a successful connection attempt. Simply turn the circuit breaker that powers your thermostat off and then back on.

  • Connect to a 2.4 GHz Network

Mysa thermostats are designed to work with 2.4 GHz networks exclusively. Attempts to connect to a 5 GHz or a merged network may result in connection failures. Make sure you’re selecting the correct network type for a seamless setup.

  • Update Your Mysa App

Keep your Mysa app current. We frequently release updates to enhance functionality and improve connectivity. Checking for the latest version can make a big difference in your device's performance.

  • Restart Your Router

Sometimes, a simple router reboot is all it takes to refresh your network settings and facilitate a better connection between your Mysa thermostat and your WiFi network.

By following these steps, you can address the "Failed to Connect" error efficiently, paving the way for a comfortable and connected home environment.
