Understanding Energy Insights
Last updated: August 20, 2026
Insights and runtime charts help you spot patterns even when the thermostat does not measure actual kWh.
Runtime vs Energy
Runtime — how long the system ran (Heat vs Cool on mini-splits; relay runtime on some HVAC models)
Energy (kWh) — measured power through compatible baseboard thermostats
Estimated cost — kWh or runtime converted using your electricity rate
Higher runtime often means colder or hotter weather, a larger gap between setpoint and outdoor temperature, open doors/windows, or a dirty filter. After you change a schedule or Away setback, compare similar days to see whether runtime dropped.
For true billed cost, use your utility bill. Mini-split Insights do not measure consumption.
