Why Isn’t My Schedule Working?

Last updated: August 25, 2026

If your thermostat is not following its schedule as expected, another feature is usually taking priority — this is often intentional, not a bug.

What can override a schedule

In general, higher-priority controls can override a thermostat schedule. Common overrides include:

  • Geofencing

  • Smart home commands and scenes (Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and similar)

  • Shortcuts such as Home, Away, or Vacation

  • Zone schedule if the thermostat is part of a zone

  • Schedule holds

The thermostat’s own schedule is usually the baseline and can be overridden by the items above.

What to check first

  1. Is a hold currently active on the thermostat?

  2. Is Home, Away, or Vacation turned on?

  3. Is geofencing changing the temperature based on your phone’s location?

  4. Is the thermostat part of a zone with its own schedule?

  5. Did a smart-home scene or voice command change the setpoint?

If you want the schedule to resume, clear the active hold or override and choose Follow Schedule where available.
