Express Checkout and Rebate Return Nuances
Returns for orders placed using express checkout methods or that included a utility rebate or promo code may involve additional considerations. Here's what to expect.
Express Checkout Returns (PayPal, Klarna)
If you placed your order using an express checkout method:
- PayPal: Refunds are returned to your PayPal account. Processing times depend on PayPal and may take additional business days beyond the standard refund timeline.
- Klarna: If you used Klarna financing, your refund will be processed through Klarna. Contact Klarna for details on how the refund affects your payment plan or remaining balance.
Note: Refunds to express checkout payment methods may take longer than credit card refunds. Allow extra time for the funds to appear in your account.
Tip: If you financed through Klarna and return the product, your remaining installment payments will be adjusted or cancelled. Check the Klarna app for updated payment details after your refund is processed.
Returns with Promo Codes or Discounts
If your order included a promo code or discount:
- Refunds are based on the actual amount you paid, not the original product price
- The discount amount is not refunded separately
- If a promo code was for a percentage off, the refund reflects the discounted price
Important: Promo codes used on returned orders may not be reissued. If you received a one-time use promo code, it may not be available for future orders after a return.
Returns with Utility Rebates
If your order included an instant utility rebate applied at checkout:
- Your refund will be based on the amount you actually paid after the rebate
- The rebate portion is returned to the utility program, not to you
- For example, if your thermostat was priced at $150 and you received a $50 utility rebate, your refund would be $100 (the amount you paid)
Important: Utility rebates applied at checkout reduce the refund amount since you did not pay the full product price. This is not a restocking fee — it reflects the actual amount charged to your payment method.
Returns with Mail-In Rebates
If you applied for a mail-in rebate after your purchase:
- Your full purchase amount will be refunded by Mysa
- If you already received the rebate payment from your utility company, you may need to return that amount to the utility
- Contact your utility company for their rebate return policy
Note: Mysa does not control mail-in rebate programs managed by utility companies. Contact your utility provider for questions about rebate repayment after a return.
