Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor (GFCI)Updated a year ago
Mysa In-Floor is equipped with a 5 mA Class A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI), a critical safety feature for your floor heating system. GFCIs, common in North American homes, are designed to interrupt power during surges or faults, enhancing safety. The Class A specification means Mysa's GFCI can shut off power with as little as 5 mA of leakage.
Built-in GFCI in Mysa In-Floor
Mysa for In-Floor comes with an integrated Class A GFCI in its thermostat. This built-in feature eliminates the need for installation on a separately GFCI-protected circuit, streamlining the setup process.
Non-Disablable GFCI for Enhanced Safety
The GFCI in Mysa is permanently active and cannot be disabled. This ensures continuous protection against electrical faults, maintaining a high safety standard for your heating system.
GFCI Specifications in Mysa In-Floor
Mysa ships with a 5 milliamps (mA) Class A GFCI. It's important to note that Mysa cannot replace thermostats that have a 15 mA GFCI, as the difference in trip levels could lead to operational issues.
Circuit Installation Guidelines
Installing Mysa on a circuit with an existing GFCI breaker is not recommended. This setup can cause false GFCI trips. If Mysa is to be used, consider replacing the GFCI breaker with a standard breaker for optimal functionality.
Compatibility with Class B GFCI Thermostats
Mysa is not compatible as a replacement for thermostats with a built-in Class B GFCI, which have a 15 mA trip level. Such a replacement could result in frequent tripping of Mysa's internal 5 mA GFCI.
