1. Compatibility with 208V
Mysa for Baseboard V2 and Mysa Lite are fully compatible with single-phase 208V systems. While 208V operates similarly to 240V, there are a couple of key differences to note:
- At 208V, the maximum wattage is 3328W, compared to 3800W at 240V.
- These devices are designed for use with 208V single-phase heating systems only and are not suitable for three-phase systems that require connections to all three phases (L1, L2, and L3).
2. Calculating Baseboard Heater Wattage
When selecting a baseboard heater, consider the voltage, wattage, amperage, and length. Generally, longer heaters have higher wattage, while shorter ones have lower wattage.
For New Installations:
- Calculate the room's square footage and multiply by 10 watts for standard 8-foot ceilings.
- For ceilings over 8 feet, multiply the square footage by 1.25.
- Example: A 15’ x 10’ room with 8’ ceilings needs 1500W. With ceilings over 8 feet, it requires 1875W.
3. For Existing Heaters:
- Check the manufacturer’s service plate for wattage.
- Multiply amperage and voltage for wattage (e.g., 9 amps at 120V equals 1080 watts).
- Measure the heater's length, as each linear foot typically produces about 250 watts.
Recommended Heater Wattage by Room Size:
- The table provided in the original text gives a guideline for matching room size with the appropriate heater wattage and the required amperage for 240V heaters.
Size of the Room (Square feet) | Recommended Heater Wattage | Amperage required (240V) |
100 | 900 | 15 |
150 | 1350 | 15 |
200 | 1800 | 15 |
300 | 2700 | 15 |
400 | 3600 | 20 |
4. Are Mysas proportional systems?
Mysa thermostats operate with a binary function, meaning they are either fully on or completely off. They provide heat until the desired temperature (set point) is reached, at which time they cease power delivery, eliminating any gradual increase or "step-up" in heating.
5. Can I Use One Mysa for Baseboard for Two Baseboards in the Same Room?
Yes, you can use a single Mysa to control more than one baseboard heater in the same room. However, it's essential to ensure that you do not exceed the maximum wattage limits. The limits are 3800 watts for 240V and 1900 watts for 120V systems.
6. Is Mysa compatible with 24V?
Mysa is not compatible with 24V systems.
7. Can Mysa replace a double pole thermostat?
Mysa can be used to replace a double pole thermostat; however, Mysa itself is a single pole thermostat. Please note that in some regions or specific setups, local electrical codes may require the use of a double pole thermostat. Be sure to verify your local regulations before proceeding with the installation.
8. Does Mysa come in other colors?
Mysa is only available in white at the moment.
9. What are the environmental operating temperatures for the Mysa Smart Thermostat?
The Mysa Smart Thermostat is designed to operate in environmental temperatures ranging from -20°C to 40°C.
