Central HVAC Checklist — Get Ready for your InstallationUpdated 7 days ago
Before You Start:
Pre-Installation Checklist for Mysa for Central HVAC
Step 1: Confirm Compatibility
Make sure your HVAC system is compatible with Mysa for Central HVAC before beginning installation.
Your existing thermostat controls a 24 V (low-voltage) system — not 120/240 V baseboard heaters.
You have a furnace, boiler, heat pump, or fan-coil/PTAC unit.
Your thermostat wiring includes a C-wire (or you plan to install the Mysa C-Wire Adapter).
Your old thermostat does not say “line voltage” or use thick (high-voltage) wires.

Step 2: Gather Your Tools
You won’t need much — just a few common household tools to mount and wire your Mysa for Central HVAC safely.
Small screwdriver set (flat and Phillips head)
Wire strippers or cutters (for clean copper ends)
Smartphone with the Mysa app installed
Camera or phone to take a photo of your current wiring
Step 3: Check Your Power and Network
Mysa for Central HVAC needs both 24 V power from your HVAC system and a reliable home Wi-Fi connection.
Confirm that your system power runs through a breaker or switch you can safely turn off.
Check your home network — Mysa for Central HVAC connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (most routers support this by default).
Keep your smartphone nearby with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled for setup.
Step 4: Document Your Current Wiring
Before you disconnect anything, take a clear photo of your existing thermostat wiring. This helps verify wire labels later and prevents errors during installation.
Take photos of both your thermostat wiring and your furnace control board (if accessible).
Make sure wire colors and labels (R, C, W, Y, G, O/B) are visible in the photo.
Keep the photo handy for reference when connecting wires to Mysa for Central HVAC.
Step 5: Power Off Safely
Turn off power to your heating and cooling system at the breaker before removing your old thermostat.
Locate your furnace or air handler breaker and switch it off.
Confirm power is off — your old thermostat display should go blank.
Never disconnect thermostat wires while the system is powered.
Warning: Working on live 24 V circuits can damage your equipment and cause electrical shock. Always turn off the breaker before handling wires.
Step 6: Download the Mysa App
The Mysa app provides a guided installation experience, step-by-step pairing, and automatic configuration for your HVAC system.
Download the latest Mysa app from the App Store or Google Play.
Sign in or create a Mysa account before starting installation.
Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your phone.
