Room Temperature Seems Wrong

Last updated: August 25, 2026

If the temperature shown on your Mysa doesn't match what you'd expect, this is usually explained by one of the factors below rather than a defect.

A Small Difference Is Normal

A 1–2 degree difference from what you expect can be explained by Mysa's algorithm. Mysa uses a smarter approach than a standard thermostat to determine room temperature — it factors in temperature, humidity, and the electrical current running through the unit, not just a simple sensor reading.

What Affects the Reading

Many factors can influence the temperature Mysa displays:

  • Where Mysa is mounted — placement significantly affects what the sensor picks up

  • Wall material — the type of wall behind the thermostat can affect the reading

  • Room size, insulation, and construction — make sure your thermostat is mounted somewhere that actually represents the room's general temperature, not an unusual hot or cold spot

  • Humidity and electrical current — Mysa factors these in, though they generally have only a slight influence

Comparing Against an External Sensor or Thermometer

If you're comparing Mysa's reading against an external device, keep these in mind:

  • Don't place an external sensor directly on top of Mysa. Mysa vents air out through the top of the unit during operation, and this heat will throw off a sensor placed there — making it look like Mysa is reading incorrectly when it's actually the sensor placement causing the discrepancy.

  • Avoid infrared thermometers for comparison. These measure surface temperature, not ambient air temperature, so they won't give an accurate comparison to what a thermostat is reading.

Is Baseboard Different From Other Mysa Products?

Some Mysa products (Central HVAC) offer a manual Temperature Offset setting to calibrate the display. This feature is not currently available for Mysa for Baseboards — if you don't see a Temperature Offset option in your app, this is expected for your product.

Still Seems Wrong?

If you've confirmed placement is reasonable and you're not comparing against an external sensor placed on top of the unit or using an infrared thermometer, and the reading still seems consistently off, contact our support team.
