Pairing Mysa with Apple Home via Matter

This guide covers pairing your Mysa Smart Thermostat for Central HVAC to Apple Home using Matter, what you can do once it is paired, Siri voice commands, and Apple Home–specific limitations. Before You Start
Your thermostat, the phone running the Mysa app, and your Apple Home hub must all be on the same Wi-Fi network. If any of these are on a different or guest network, pairing may fail or the thermostat may appear unresponsive.
Mysa Smart Thermostat for Central HVAC with firmware 4.5.37 or later, online in the Mysa app.
Mysa app (iOS or Android) 4.11 or later, signed in.
iPhone or iPad running iOS / iPadOS 16.2 or later.
A Home Hub — HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K. On iOS 18+ you can pair and control locally without a hub, but automations and remote access still require one. iPad is no longer supported as a Home Hub.
Step 1 — Get Your Matter Pairing Code from the Mysa App
These steps are the same regardless of which platform you are pairing to.
Open the Mysa app and tap the menu icon (top left).
Under Other, tap Home Assistants.
Tap Mysa for Central HVAC, then select your device.
On the Connect using Matter screen, tap the Pairing Code field to copy the code, or keep the QR code visible to scan from another device.
Note: Each pairing code can only be used once per platform. If you are adding the thermostat to a second platform, do not return to the Mysa app for a new code — instead, generate a sharing code from the platform you already paired to (see Using Matter with Multiple Smart Home Platforms). The same pairing code can, however, be used multiple times with the same platform if re-pairing is required.
Step 2 — Add the Thermostat in Apple Home
Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap the + button (top right) and choose Add Accessory.
Point your camera at the QR code in the Mysa app and tap Add to Home. To pair using a code, tap More options → My accessory isn't shown here → Enter setup code… → paste the copied code → tap Continue → tap Add to Home.
Choose the thermostat location when prompted, then tap Continue.
Name the thermostat (the default name is "Mysa Smart Thermostat for Central HVAC").
When the thermostat details are displayed, tap Continue.
Tap Done or View in Home. The thermostat tile now appears in Apple Home.

Auto Mode and Deadband
Auto mode lets your thermostat switch between heating and cooling based on your setpoints. In the Mysa app, enable Auto mode in Mysa settings before using it, then set heat to and cool to targets and a deadband between 2°C and 6°C (default 2°C).
You can enable Auto mode directly from Apple Home without enabling it in the Mysa app first. When enabled via Matter, a default 2°C deadband applies.
Deadband control is not available in Apple Home — change the deadband only in the Mysa app. Apple Home will honour the deadband set in the Mysa app.
In cool mode, if you try to set the cool setpoint less than the heat setpoint plus the deadband, Apple Home will reject the change or adjust the other setpoint automatically. This is expected deadband behaviour.
Apple Home Limitations
These come from the Matter standard and Apple's implementation, not from a defect in your thermostat.
Automations Only Work Reliably in Auto Mode
Apple Home automations work correctly when the thermostat is in Auto mode. Automations configured to set Heat or Cool mode separately do not work as expected — instead of following the automation setpoint, they follow the Auto mode setpoints already configured on the thermostat. This is an Apple Home limitation. Avoid using Apple Home automations for Heat or Cool mode. Use Auto mode automations, or use Mysa app schedules as a reliable alternative for all modes.
Automations May Send Incorrect Setpoints in Auto Mode
Even within Auto mode, Apple Home automations can send incorrect setpoints when the automation is created while the thermostat is already in Auto mode. Apple Home uses the active Auto mode setpoints as bounds, which can cause it to constrain or overcorrect the value being sent. For example: if Auto mode is set to 18°C – 23°C and you create an automation targeting a cool setpoint of 19°C, Apple Home may send 20°C instead. Or targeting 7°C for heat may result in 18°C being sent due to the Auto heat setpoint acting as a floor.
Workaround: switch out of Auto mode before creating the automation, then switch back. This prevents Apple Home from locking in the Auto setpoints as bounds at the time of creation.
Default Device Name Is Not Unique
Apple Home names every paired thermostat "Mysa Smart Thermostat." If you have more than one, rename each immediately after pairing to avoid confusion.
Device May Stay Online Longer After Wi-Fi Loss
Apple Home may continue showing the thermostat as available for a few minutes after it loses Wi-Fi, longer than Google Home or Alexa. This is normal platform behaviour.
Temperature Range Is Narrower Than the Mysa App
Matter platforms support a heat setpoint range of 7°C – 30°C and a cool setpoint of 16°C – 30°C, compared to 5°C – 30°C and 16°C – 37°C in the Mysa app. Values outside the Matter range set in the Mysa app should display correctly on the Matter platform app but cannot be adjusted back to those values from the Matter platform without error.
Re-Pairing After a Reset
Remove the accessory from Apple Home before re-pairing. Then pair again using a new QR code from the Mysa app.
