Installation Checklist

Use this checklist to install Mysa for Electric Baseboard Heaters correctly. For the full procedure, read Installation Overview.
Warning: Mysa for Electric Baseboard Heaters operates on 120/208/240 VAC. Turn off the power before completing any electrical installation. If you are unsure that the power to your heaters is off, stop work and call an electrician.
Before you start

☐ | Make sure that a wall thermostat controls your heater. Mysa cannot replace a dial on the heater. |
☐ | Check your local code. Some regions require an electrician to install a line-voltage thermostat. |
☐ | Make sure that your heater is compatible. Use the Mysa Compatibility Checker. |
☐ | Find the voltage (120 V, 208 V or 240 V) and the wattage of your heater. Make sure that the total load is in the limits for your model. Refer to "Specifications" in this article. |
☐ | A very small heater can cause an H2 error on the Mysa display. |
☐ | Download the Mysa app from the App Store or Google Play. |
☐ | Create your Mysa account. |
☐ | Have your Wi-Fi network name and password ready. Mysa connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. |

Installation steps

☐ | Turn off the circuit breaker for your heater. |
☐ | Use a voltage tester at the thermostat wires to make sure that the power is off. |
☐ | Before you disconnect a wire, take a photo of your wiring. |
☐ | Count the wires in your gang box. You need 4 wires: two cables with two wires in each cable, not counting the ground wire. If you see only 2 wires, look in the gang box for extra wires with wire nuts on their ends. |
☐ | Disconnect the old thermostat and remove it. |
☐ | Connect each house wire to the correct Mysa wire lead (L1, L2/N or Load). Connect the wires one at a time. |
☐ | Use the wire nuts that come with Mysa. Pull each wire gently to make sure that it is tight. |
☐ | Attach the Mysa base plate to the gang box with the mounting screws. |
☐ | Put the front plate on Mysa. It glides into place. Tighten the screw on the bottom of the front plate. Do not overtighten the screw. |
☐ | Turn on the circuit breaker. |
☐ | Make sure that the display comes on. Gen3, V2 and Lite display the Bluetooth pairing symbol. V1 displays a Wi-Fi symbol. |
We strongly recommend a voltage tester. It is the only reliable proof that the power is off. If you do not have a voltage tester, do these steps:
Dial thermostat: Turn the thermostat all the way up. Wait 5 to 10 minutes. Put your hand on the heater and make sure that no heat comes from it. If you have more than one heater, do this check on each heater.
Digital thermostat: Make sure that the display is off.
A cold heater alone is not proof that the power is off.
If you do not know which breaker controls your heater, turn off the main breaker at your electrical panel. Do this in daylight.
Tip: If you install more than one thermostat, install one thermostat at a time.
App setup

☐ | Tap the icon that you see on your Mysa: Bluetooth Symbol (Gen3, V2 and Lite) or Wi-Fi Symbol (V1). |
☐ | Stand in front of your Mysa. |
☐ | Name your Mysa. |
☐ | Connect to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. |
☐ | Select your heater type. For a baseboard or convector heater, select Baseboard. For a heater with a fan, select Fan Forced. For a radiant ceiling heater, select Radiant on V1 and Gen3, or select Fan Forced on V2 and Lite. |
☐ | Let the firmware update finish. Keep the Mysa app open and keep the power on. |

Final check

Restart and reset reference
Restart (V2, Lite and V1): Press and hold the down arrow until RT appears on the screen. Then let go and wait for Mysa to power back on. Your Wi-Fi, schedule and settings stay.
Restart (Gen3): For help restarting Gen3, send an email to support@getmysa.com.
Reset (V2, Lite and V1): Hold the up arrow and the down arrow for 10 seconds. Mysa removes its Wi-Fi, its Apple Home (HomeKit) pairing, its schedule and its settings. Then you must set up Mysa again in the Mysa app. Do not do this to restart Mysa.
Gen3: On Gen3, the same hold starts a countdown on the screen. When the countdown ends, Gen3 resets its Wi-Fi and removes all its smart home (Matter) connections. Then you must set up Gen3 again in the Mysa app, and add it to your smart home app again.
Quick reference
Connect each Mysa lead to the house wire by its function, not by its colour. Wire colours are different in different homes.
240 V system:
L1 lead: the line wire (L1) from the breaker.
L2/N lead: the second wire (L2) from the breaker, joined with the L2 wire that goes to the heater.
Load lead: the wire that goes to the heater.
120 V system:
L1 lead: only the line wire (L) from the breaker.
L2/N lead: the neutral wire (N) from the breaker, joined with the neutral wire that goes to the heater.
Load lead: the wire that goes to the heater.
