Thermostat Unresponsive to Touch

If your thermostat's display is on but it's not responding to touch or commands, work through these steps in order.

1. Check for Protective Film

Make sure the protective plastic film has been fully removed from the faceplate — leftover film can interfere with the thermostat's ability to detect touch. See Faceplate Looks Scratched if you're not sure whether it's still there.

2. Power Cycle the Thermostat

Turn off the circuit breaker connected to the thermostat, wait a moment, then turn it back on.

3. Check the Ground Wire

An improperly fastened ground wire can sometimes cause the touch buttons to malfunction. Confirm the ground wire is securely fastened to the ground screw in the gang box.

4. Remove and Reattach the Faceplate

If the steps above don't help:

1. Locate the small screw at the bottom of the thermostat and unscrew it

2. Carefully slide off the faceplate

3. Leave it detached for 5–10 minutes

4. Carefully reattach the faceplate — be careful not to bend the pins that connect it to the base

5. The thermostat will take a few seconds to reboot once reattached

Warning: always turn off power at the breaker before working with the thermostat.

5. Check for a Green Light (V1 only)

With the faceplate removed, check whether a green light is illuminated on the base. This helps our support team diagnose the issue further if you need to reach out.
