Changing Modes and Holds

When you adjust the setpoint on your thermostat, a submenu asks how long to hold the new setting.

Hold Options

• Follow Schedule — cancels any hold and returns to the schedule

• Until next scheduled event — holds until the next schedule change

• Until a specific time — you choose when to return to the schedule

• Indefinitely — holds until you change it manually

Setting a Thermostat to Off

Off is a mode like any other, so a schedule will turn the thermostat back on at the next scheduled event. With no schedule, selecting Off is enough. With a schedule, select Off and then hold it. See Turning Your Thermostat Off.

Why This Matters

If your thermostat seems to be ignoring your schedule, check which hold option is currently active — it may be intentionally overriding the schedule. See Scheduling Issues for the full list of what can override a schedule.
