Can Mysa Smart Thermostat control a separate ventilation fan with a smart home automation?

Short answer: Mysa can be used in smart home automations, but it does not directly power or control a separate line-voltage ventilation fan unless that fan is connected through a compatible HVAC control circuit.

When the fan is separate from the heating system

If a ventilation or garage fan is controlled by its own 120 V wall switch, timer, or line-voltage controller, it is separate from the low-voltage thermostat circuit. Do not wire that fan directly to Mysa.

Instead, the fan circuit should be controlled by a properly rated smart switch or relay installed according to the fan manufacturer's instructions and local electrical code. Once both devices are available in the same smart home platform, you may be able to create an automation such as:

  • If the home temperature is above a chosen setpoint, turn on the fan switch.

  • At a scheduled time, turn the fan switch on or off.

  • Use a manual smart home button, scene, or widget to control the fan.

Availability and behavior depend on the smart home platform and the third-party switch or relay. Mysa Support can help confirm what Mysa exposes to Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or Matter, but third-party fan-switch setup is supported by that device's manufacturer.

If you want Mysa to control the fan directly

A direct wired setup may require a separate compatible low-voltage control design, such as a dedicated relay/control circuit for the fan. This is more complex than using a smart switch automation and should be designed by a qualified HVAC technician or electrician.

Do not combine an unrelated 120 V ventilation fan circuit with a two-wire heating thermostat circuit. Mysa's low-voltage terminals are for compatible HVAC controls, not direct line-voltage fan switching.
