Pairing Your Mysa Smart Thermostat
Pairing Your Mysa Smart Thermostat
This guide walks you through connecting your Mysa Smart Thermostat (formerly Mysa for Central HVAC) to the Mysa app.
Before You Begin
- Thermostat is powered on and displaying the Pairing Mode icon (looks like a Bluetooth symbol)
- Phone's Bluetooth is enabled
- Mysa app installed (App Store or Google Play)
- Your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name and password ready
- Phone is connected to your Wi-Fi network and within 1–2 meters of the thermostat
Pairing Steps
1. Open the Mysa App
Sign in to your account (or create one if you haven't already).
2. Add Your Thermostat
- Tap Add Mysa from the main menu
- Select Mysa Smart Thermostat from the product list
- Select No when asked if the thermostat is installed — this starts the configuration flow
- Grant Bluetooth permission when prompted
3. Connect via Bluetooth
- Tap Next while standing near your thermostat
- Tap Identify to confirm you've selected the correct device
- Accept the pairing notification on your phone
- Name your thermostat and assign it to a room
4. Connect to Wi-Fi
- Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
- Enter your password
- Wait for the connection to complete
- Follow the on-screen prompts to configure your HVAC system type and preferences
Note Mysa requires a 2.4 GHz network. If you only see your 5 GHz network, check your router settings.
5. Firmware Update
After connecting, the app may install a firmware update. Keep the thermostat powered and the app open until complete — this can take several minutes.
If the update fails, you can skip it and retry later from Device Settings.
Success
Once complete, you'll see:
- Your thermostat on the app home screen
- Current temperature and setpoint displayed
- Status shows Online
Troubleshooting
Thermostat Not Appearing
- Move closer (within 1–2 meters)
- Toggle Bluetooth off and back on
- Close and reopen the Mysa app
- Check that the thermostat isn't already paired to another account
Re-entering Pairing Mode
If the Pairing Mode icon isn't showing, hold the up and down arrows simultaneously until the Bluetooth symbol appears.
Pairing Fails Repeatedly
- Close the app completely
- Power cycle the thermostat (breaker off for 10 seconds, then back on)
- Re-enter pairing mode
- Reopen the app — it will detect incomplete setup and offer to resume
Firmware Update Stuck
If stuck for more than 5 minutes, tap Skip and retry later from Device Settings.
Tips for a Successful Pairing
- Stay close — Keep your phone within 1–2 meters of the thermostat during the entire pairing process.
- Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi — Mysa does not support 5 GHz–only networks. If your router broadcasts a combined 2.4/5 GHz network, the thermostat will connect to the 2.4 GHz band automatically.
- Double-check your Wi-Fi password — A mistyped password is the most common reason pairing fails.
- Restart if needed — If pairing fails, power cycle the thermostat by turning off the breaker for 10 seconds, then turn it back on and re-enter pairing mode.
Network Diagnostics Tool
If you're experiencing connectivity issues during or after pairing, the Mysa app includes a built-in Network Diagnostics tool. This tool can help identify Wi-Fi signal strength problems, network configuration issues, and other connectivity concerns.
To launch the Network Diagnostics tool:
- Open the Mysa app
- Tap the Support button in the top-right corner of the screen
- Select the Network Diagnostics option
- Follow the on-screen prompts to run a diagnostic check
The tool will analyze your network environment and provide recommendations to improve your connection. This is especially helpful if your thermostat has trouble staying connected or if pairing repeatedly fails.
