Smart Early-On
Smart Early-On helps your Mysa thermostat reach your scheduled temperature on time.
Normally, a thermostat starts heating or cooling when a scheduled event begins. With Smart Early-On, Mysa can start a little earlier so your room is already close to the temperature you wanted when your schedule begins.
For example, if your schedule changes to 21 C at 7:00 AM, Smart Early-On may begin heating before 7:00 AM so the room is comfortable by 7:00 AM, not sometime after.
How It Works
Smart Early-On learns how your home responds when your thermostat heats or cools. It looks at how quickly the room temperature changes, and how much your heating or cooling system needs to run to reach the target temperature.
Every home is different. A small room may heat up quickly, while a larger room, colder space, or slower HVAC system may need more time. Smart Early-On adapts to the thermostat, the room, and the equipment in your home.
Mysa does this using the thermostat's own performance data. The amount of time your system runs naturally reflects real conditions around your home, including outdoor temperature, insulation, wind, sun exposure, humidity, and HVAC performance.
What You Will See In The App
For Mysa Smart Thermostat, also known as Mysa for Central HVAC, Smart Early-On appears as a setting in the Mysa app under Device Settings > Thermostat Preferences. It is turned on or off for each thermostat individually.
When Smart Early-On is on:
- Your schedule stays the same in the app.
- Your thermostat may start heating or cooling before the scheduled time.
- Mysa keeps learning from each completed heating or cooling cycle.
- Timing can improve as more data is collected.
When Smart Early-On is off, your thermostat follows the schedule normally at the time of the scheduled event, not earlier.
After you turn Smart Early-On on or off, the setting should update in the app right away. The thermostat's schedule optimization may take up to about 15 minutes to update in the background.
How Long It Takes To Learn
Smart Early-On starts working right away, but it gets better as it learns.
When first enabled, Mysa uses default early-start estimates based on the size of the temperature change. These estimates help the feature work while it is still learning your home.
The system starts making more personalized predictions after it has seen about 10 completed heating or cooling recoveries for similar conditions. It becomes more confident after about 30 completed recoveries.
For many homes, that means:
- You may notice Smart Early-On working immediately, using default timing.
- Timing usually starts to become more personalized after 1-2 weeks of regular scheduled use.
- It may take 3-4 weeks or longer to become highly tuned, especially if the thermostat only has one major schedule change per day or if conditions vary a lot.
The exact learning period depends on how often your schedule causes the thermostat to heat or cool, how large the temperature changes are, and how consistent the home's conditions are.
When Smart Early-On Starts Early
Smart Early-On only starts early when it is useful. It may start before a scheduled event when:
- Smart Early-On is enabled for that thermostat.
- There is an upcoming scheduled temperature change.
- The room is not already at the scheduled temperature.
- The thermostat has recent temperature data.
- The thermostat is not on a temporary or permanent hold.
If the room is already comfortable, Smart Early-On may not start early. This is expected and helps avoid unnecessary heating or cooling.
Why It May Not Start Early
Smart Early-On may be turned on but not visibly start early in some situations:
- The room is already at or close to the scheduled temperature.
- The next scheduled change is still too far away.
- A temporary or permanent hold is active.
- The thermostat does not have a regular schedule set.
- The thermostat is still early in its learning period.
Smart Early-On is designed to run only when it expects an early start will help your home reach the scheduled temperature on time.
Holds And Schedule Changes
Temporary and permanent holds take priority over Smart Early-On. If your thermostat is on hold, Smart Early-On will not create new early starts while that hold is active.
If you change your schedule, Smart Early-On will use the updated schedule the next time it checks for upcoming events. This usually happens within about 15 minutes.
Supported Thermostats
Smart Early-On is currently available only on Mysa Smart Thermostat, also known as Mysa for Central HVAC.
If you do not see the setting, your thermostat may not support Smart Early-On yet.
