Pre-Installation Checklist

Get ready to install your Mysa Smart Thermostat (formerly Mysa for Central HVAC).

1. Confirm Compatibility

  • Your existing thermostat controls a 24V (low-voltage) system — not 120/240V baseboard heaters
  • You have a furnace, boiler, heat pump, or fan coil/PTAC unit
  • Your wiring includes a C-wire, or you have the Mysa Power C-Wire Adapter
  • Your old thermostat does NOT say "line voltage" or use thick wires

Tip Not sure? Use the Mysa Compatibility Checker — Mysa now has smart thermostats for almost every home in North America.

2. Gather Tools

Required:

  • Medium Phillips screwdriver

Recommended:

  • Small Phillips screwdriver
  • Wire strippers or pliers
  • Drill with 3/32" bit (hardwood) or 5/64" bit (softwood) if using wall anchors

3. Prepare the App

Download the Mysa app before you start — it provides the best installation guidance for your specific system.

Create your account and have your Wi-Fi name and password ready.

4. Check Wi-Fi

Mysa connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (most routers support this by default). Have your network name and password ready.

5. Document Your Wiring

Before disconnecting anything:

  1. Take a clear photo of your current thermostat wiring
  2. Take a photo of your furnace control board (if accessible)
  3. Make sure wire colors and terminal labels (R, C, W, Y, G, O/B) are visible

6. Turn Off Power

Warning Turn off power to your HVAC system at the breaker before touching any wires.

  1. Locate your furnace or air handler breaker
  2. Switch it off
  3. Confirm power is off — your old thermostat display should go blank
