Mysa Smart Thermostat: Exit Internal Test Mode

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Use this procedure only when a Mysa Smart Thermostat is stuck in internal factory/test mode. This article is not an installation guide. Before starting, make sure the thermostat is a Mysa Smart Thermostat and that the installation details have been reviewed by Mysa Support.

Before you begin

For safety, the thermostat should only have the power wires connected before running the test sequence: R and C only. During the relay test step, the thermostat can turn on heat, cool, and auxiliary stages at the same time. Disconnecting the control/load wires helps prevent equipment from turning on unexpectedly.

If you are not comfortable disconnecting thermostat wires, or if you are unsure which wires are connected, contact Mysa Support before continuing.

What you may see

When the thermostat is in test mode, the center prompt may appear as an asterisk in the middle of the screen. Depending on where the thermostat is in the test sequence, you may also see icons or prompts such as a square, all LEDs/icons on, relays on, a countdown, a proximity screen, or a light sensor screen.

Exit test mode

  1. Press and hold each button until the screen changes.

  2. If the screen shows a square in the middle, tap or select the square prompt, then press: Up → Left → Down → Right.

  3. When all LEDs and icons are on, press Right.

  4. When the relays turn on, press Right to turn them off.

  5. When the countdown appears — 3, 2, 1 — wait for the beep, then press Right.

  6. When the proximity screen appears, wave a hand in front of the thermostat until the proximity screen clears.

  7. When the light sensor screen appears, face the thermostat toward a light source, or cover and then uncover the front sensor, until the light screen clears.

If the thermostat does not exit test mode

If the screen does not advance, or if the thermostat returns to test mode after completing the sequence, contact Mysa Support for next steps.
