Transferring Mysa Ownership to a New Owner
Last updated: July 29, 2026
If you've moved into a home with Mysa thermostats already installed, you'll need to transfer ownership to your account before you can control them. This guide covers the steps to claim your thermostats.
Before You Start
Download the Mysa app and create an account if you don't have one
Make sure you have access to your home Wi-Fi network name and password
Identify which Mysa model you have (check the device or look for model info on the back)
If You Can Contact the Previous Owner
The easiest transfer happens when the previous owner removes the thermostats from their account first.
Ask the previous owner to:
Open the Mysa app
Tap the thermostat they want to transfer
Tap the Settings icon (bottom right)
Tap Delete to remove the device from their account
Repeat for each thermostat
Pairing the Thermostat to Your Account
Once the previous owner has removed the device (or if it was never set up), you can pair it to your account.
Mysa for Baseboards (V2, V1, Lite) and In-Floor
On the thermostat, press and hold both Up and Down arrows firmly for 10 seconds
The display will show "AP" indicating pairing mode
Open the Mysa app and tap Add Device
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi and complete setup
Mysa for Mini-Splits
Press and hold the M button and the Fan button together for 10 seconds
The device will enter pairing mode
Open the Mysa app and tap Add Device
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup
If You Cannot Contact the Previous Owner
If the previous owner can't be reached and the thermostat is still linked to their account, our support team can help transfer ownership.
Email support@getmysa.com with:
Your name and email address (for your Mysa account)
Your address (to confirm you're the new resident)
Clear photos of the serial number (S/N) and Mysa-ID from the back of each thermostat
Proof of residence if requested (utility bill, lease, or closing documents)
While waiting for the transfer to be processed, you can adjust the temperature directly using the buttons on the thermostat's faceplate, just like a traditional thermostat.
The serial number and Mysa-ID photos confirm you have physical possession of the devices and prevent unauthorized transfers. Once our support team completes the transfer, the thermostats will automatically appear in your Mysa account and remain online — you won’t need to follow the pairing steps above.
Once our support team completes the transfer, the thermostats will automatically appear in your Mysa account. If the devices show as online, you won’t need to do anything further. However, if they appear as offline or disconnected, follow these steps to reconnect them:
Delete the disconnected thermostat(s) by opening Device settings in the Mysa app and selecting Delete.
Reboot each thermostat to enter pairing mode:
For Baseboards/In-Floor models: Press and hold both Up and Down arrows firmly for 10 seconds until the pairing icon (AP) appears.
For Mini-Splits: Press and hold the M button and Fan button together for 10 seconds.
When the pairing icon appears on the thermostat, tap Add Device in the Mysa app and follow the on‑screen instructions to reconnect.
After the Transfer
Once the thermostats are on your account:
Set up schedules to match your routine
Configure your electricity rate for accurate energy tracking (V2 and V1 only)
Set your home location for weather-based features
Rename each thermostat to identify which room it controls
Tip for Sellers and Landlords
If you're leaving Mysa thermostats for the next owner or tenant, delete them from your app before you leave. This makes it easy for the new resident to set them up without needing to contact support.
