Internal: Baseboard 3 display cannot be controlled as a light in Matter

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Audience: Internal (CX Agents Only)

Customer question: A Baseboard 3 customer using Matter/Apple Home may ask whether the thermostat display can appear as a light or lamp accessory so it can be turned off with lighting scenes or voice commands.

Answer: Baseboard 3 does not currently expose its display as a separate light/lamp accessory through Matter or Apple Home. Customers can control supported thermostat functions through Matter, but display brightness behavior should be managed through the Mysa app where available.

How to respond:

  • Acknowledge the use case: turning off room lights and thermostat display together is understandable.
  • Explain that this is not currently supported for Baseboard 3 through Matter/Apple Home.
  • Log the request as product feedback/feature request and let the customer know the team will keep it in mind for future smart-home improvements.
  • If the customer only wants to adjust the wall display, direct them to the Mysa app display brightness settings instead of smart-home scenes.

Do not promise an ETA.
