Prebuy FAQ — Mysa for Mini-Splits

Last updated: August 27, 2026

Does Mysa replace my original remote?

For everyday use, yes. Mysa learns a compatible remote's infrared commands and lets you control the system from Mysa, the app, schedules, and supported voice assistants. Keep the original remote for setup and for any feature Mysa does not reproduce.

Does Mysa wire into my mini-split?

No. It plugs into a standard outlet and sends infrared commands, just like the original handheld remote.

How do I know whether my remote is compatible?

Look for a full-state display showing the target temperature, mode, and fan speed. Button-only, temperature-only, RF, Bluetooth, and wired-only controls are not compatible.

Can one Mysa control every indoor head?

Plan on one Mysa for each indoor head or room. Each head acts as its own zone and needs an unobstructed infrared path from its Mysa.

Does it need Wi-Fi?

A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection is required for app control, voice assistants, reports, schedules, and other smart features. Manual controls remain available without Wi-Fi.

Can I use it with a window or portable AC?

Yes, when the unit uses a compatible full-state infrared remote.

Does it support every button on my remote?

No. Core temperature, mode, fan, swing, and vane controls are supported where available. Specialized features such as freeze protection, Follow Me, Turbo, Eco, and head-unit display controls may still require the original remote.

Do I need an electrician?

No thermostat wiring is required. Mysa plugs into a standard outlet, then pairs with the app and original remote.
