Smart Alerts
Smart Alerts
Temperature and humidity levels in your home play a crucial role in your family's comfort and well-being, as well as your home's structural soundness.
With Mysa, you can already monitor temperature and humidity from anywhere by opening the app. Smart Alerts take it a step further — you'll get notified automatically when something needs your attention, without having to check.
Note Smart Alerts are available on V2 and V1 only. Lite does not have a humidity sensor and does not support Smart Alerts.
To access Smart Alerts, tap the menu icon (top left) > Manage Mysa Homes > select your home > Smart Alerts.
Why Monitor Temperature and Humidity?
Avoid property damage
Humidity is all about balance. Excess moisture from high humidity can lead to mold, mildew, and rot. Too little moisture causes dry skin, unhappy houseplants, and can increase how quickly infections spread. Aim for 30–40% humidity in winter and 50–60% in summer.
Temperature extremes cause problems too. A sudden cold snap while you're away could mean frozen pipes.
Stay aware of second properties
Own a cabin or cottage? Get notified if something goes wrong after a freezing winter storm. Have a short-term rental? Stay aware of conditions during guest stays and catch excessive heating.
Keep tabs on loved ones
Maintaining comfortable temperatures matters for everyone at home — whether that's keeping a baby's room just right or staying aware of conditions for temperature-sensitive pets. Smart Alerts give you added visibility when you're not there.
Types of Smart Alerts
Home Environment Alerts
Get notified when temperature or humidity crosses a threshold you set.
Four alert types are available:
- High Temperature — Notifies when temperature rises above your threshold (16°C to 40°C / 61°F to 104°F)
- Low Temperature — Notifies when temperature falls below your threshold (1°C to 14°C / 34°F to 57°F)
- High Humidity — Notifies when humidity rises above your threshold (5% to 95%)
- Low Humidity — Notifies when humidity falls below your threshold (5% to 95%)
You can only have one alert per type, but each alert can monitor as many thermostats as you have.
Note If you enable both high and low humidity alerts, set them at least 5% apart.
To set up a Home Environment Alert:
- From the Smart Alerts screen, toggle Smart Alerts on
- Select the alert type (High Temperature, Low Temperature, High Humidity, or Low Humidity)
- Set your threshold value
- Choose which thermostats to monitor
- Tap Save
Geofencing Notifications
Get notified when you or other household members enter or leave your geofence boundary. Enable this option if you want confirmation that your geofencing shortcuts triggered.
How Alerts Work
- Alerts are sent within 5 minutes of reaching your threshold
- You receive one notification per thermostat per alert event
- Notifications appear on your phone and any smartwatch linked to your Mysa account
- Home Environment Alerts use the ambient temperature sensor in your Mysa
Note Smart Alerts are sent as push notifications only. Email and SMS notifications are not available at this time.
Note Only the home owner receives alerts. Shared users cannot receive alerts.
Note There is no alert history in the Mysa app. Once a notification is sent, you can only view it in your phone's notification center.
Managing Alerts
From the Smart Alerts screen, you can turn each alert type on or off and adjust threshold values. There is no snooze function — alerts are either enabled or disabled.
Device Offline Alerts
Mysa also sends an email if your thermostat hasn't reported a reading in over three hours. This could indicate:
- A power outage at home
- An internet outage
- The thermostat has lost power
Unlike other Smart Alerts, device offline alerts are sent via email, not push notification.
Caution Smart Alerts is a consumer-grade feature and should not be relied upon in situations where property or life depends on alerts functioning correctly — for example, monitoring temperatures to prevent pipe freezes in critical infrastructure. If reliable alerting is essential, consider a dedicated temperature monitoring service with backup power and cellular connectivity.
