Mysa Smart Thermostat Overview

Mysa Smart Thermostat (formerly Mysa for Central HVAC) is a smart thermostat designed for 24-volt heating and cooling systems. This article explains what systems it works with, what you need for installation, and how to get started.

Compatible Systems

Mysa Smart Thermostat is a 3H/2C thermostat that controls standard 24-volt HVAC systems, including:

  • Furnaces and air handlers

  • Boilers with radiant systems

  • Heat pumps (with or without auxiliary heat)

  • Fan-coil and PTAC units

  • Millivolt systems (older fireplaces) — requires the Mysa Power C-Wire Adapter

  • Multi-stage heating and cooling, plus multi-speed fan control when your system wiring provides those signals

Note This is a five-relay thermostat and does not support controlling accessories. A future Mysa product is planned to support accessories like humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilators.

Caution Mysa Smart Thermostat is not compatible with line-voltage systems (120/240V baseboards, in-floor electric) or proprietary communicating thermostats.

Smart Home Integration

Mysa Smart Thermostat will support Matter, expected in early 2026 via firmware update. Once Matter is available, you'll be able to add it to:

  • Apple Home

  • Google Home

  • Amazon Alexa

  • Other Matter-compatible platforms

After connecting through Matter, you can control your thermostat by app, automation, or voice while still using the Mysa app for advanced insights and configuration.

What You Need Before Installing

You're ready for Mysa Smart Thermostat if you have:

  • A central HVAC system with 24-volt thermostat wiring

  • Thin low-voltage wires labeled R, C, Y, W, G, or O/B

  • A C (common) wire—or a system where you can install Mysa's C-Wire Adapter

  • A smartphone with the Mysa app (iOS or Android)

Tools Required

You need a medium Phillips screwdriver. We also recommend having these on hand:

  • Small Phillips screwdriver

  • Drill with 3/32" (hardwood) or 5/64" (softwood) bit

  • Wire strippers

  • Pliers

About the C Wire

Mysa Smart Thermostat requires continuous power (C wire). If your current thermostat doesn't have one, Mysa offers a C-Wire Adapter (CWA) that connects near your furnace or control board. The Mysa app guides you through installation.

Tip Take a photo of your existing thermostat wiring before removing anything. Share it with Mysa Support if you're unsure about compatibility.

  • Wi-Fi connected (2.4 GHz network required)

  • Auto-adaptive brightness

  • Min/max setpoint limits

  • Locking screw for securing the thermostat

App Features

The Mysa app includes:

  • Custom scheduling

  • Geofencing (auto home/away temperature)

  • Energy charting and monthly energy reports

  • Temperature and humidity alerts

  • Shared app access for household members

  • Multi-home support

  • Brightness controls (set min/max if the display is too bright)

App-Guided Setup

The Mysa app leads you through:

  1. Wi-Fi setup (using Bluetooth on your phone for a seamless connection)

  2. HVAC configuration and wiring confirmation

  3. C-Wire Adapter setup (if needed)

Most homeowners complete installation in under 30 minutes.
