Pairing to the App
Connect your Mysa for Mini-Splits to the Mysa app to unlock remote control, scheduling, and smart home features.
Before You Start
Have ready:
- Mysa powered on (display showing pairing symbol)
- Your unit's original IR remote
- Your AC/mini-split powered on
- Phone connected to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
Download the Mysa app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Pairing Steps
- Open the Mysa app
- Tap the menu icon, then Add Thermostat
- Select Mysa for Mini-Splits / AC
- Connect Mysa to your Wi-Fi network
- When prompted, point your remote at Mysa and press one button (typically power)
- Mysa identifies your remote's signature
- Mysa sends test commands to find the best matching code set
- Confirm which commands work correctly
- Mysa downloads the complete code set for your unit
- Name your device and assign it to a room
How IR Learning Works
Mysa doesn't need to learn every button on your remote. It only needs a single command — typically the power button — to recognize your remote's signature. From there, Mysa looks up potential code sets from its database and runs a test phase, sending a few commands to determine which code set works best with your unit.
This approach gives you higher compatibility than manually teaching each button, since Mysa's database contains optimized code sets for thousands of units.
Note: There is no way to teach additional IR commands to Mysa.
Tip: If commands aren't working well, contact support@getmysa.com to check if an alternate code set is available for your unit. New code sets can be added in the Mysa app under Settings.
Wi-Fi Requirements
- Frequency: 2.4 GHz (5 GHz not supported for pairing)
- Security: WPA2 supported
- Mesh networks: Supported
- Combined 2.4/5 GHz networks: Supported
Troubleshooting
Mysa not appearing in app:
- Ensure Mysa is powered on (display lit)
- Move closer to Mysa during pairing
- Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
Wi-Fi connection fails:
- Confirm you're on a 2.4 GHz network
- Move Mysa closer to your router temporarily
- Double-check your Wi-Fi password
IR learning not working:
- Point the remote directly at Mysa's front
- Hold the remote 6-12 inches away
- Make sure remote batteries are fresh
- Try in a dimly lit room (bright light can interfere)
- Try a different button — the power button doesn't always trigger recognition
Commands not working after pairing:
- Verify line of sight between Mysa and your AC unit
- Move Mysa closer to the unit
- Re-run IR learning from the app settings
After Pairing
Once paired, use only Mysa or the app to control your unit. Using your original remote can cause sync issues since IR is one-way — Mysa has no way of knowing what commands the remote sent.
Tip: Other household members don't need to repeat the pairing process. Use the Shared Access feature in the Mysa app to give them control.
