In-Floor Heating Compatibility Guide
The Mysa for In-Floor Heating thermostat is designed specifically for electric radiant floor heating systems. This guide helps you determine if your system is compatible before you purchase.
Compatible Systems
Mysa for In-Floor Heating works with:
- Electric radiant heating mats
- Electric radiant heating cables
- Systems rated 120V or 240V
- Systems up to 3,800W at 240V (15A)
Tip: Check the label on your heating system's relay panel or junction box for voltage and wattage ratings.
Not Compatible
Mysa for In-Floor Heating does not work with:
- Hydronic (water-based) radiant floor systems
- Low-voltage heating systems (below 120V)
- Systems exceeding 3,800W at 240V
- Central HVAC systems
- Baseboard or convector heaters (use the Mysa V2 or Mysa Lite instead)
Warning: Installing Mysa on an incompatible system may cause damage and will void your warranty.
Electrical Requirements
- Requires a dedicated circuit for the in-floor heating system
- A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) breaker is required by electrical code for in-floor heating circuits
- Standard 2-gang electrical box required for installation
- Must have a neutral wire available in the electrical box
Floor Sensor
Mysa for In-Floor Heating includes an external floor temperature sensor probe that installs between the heating elements in the floor.
- The sensor monitors floor surface temperature for precise control
- If your floor already has a sensor probe from a previous thermostat, it may be compatible with Mysa
- The sensor prevents the floor from overheating beyond safe temperature limits
Important: The floor sensor must be installed between heating elements, not on top of them. If you are retrofitting Mysa onto an existing system, ensure the sensor probe can be routed to the floor.
How to Check Your System
- Locate your in-floor heating system's electrical panel or junction box
- Note the voltage (120V or 240V) and wattage or amperage rating
- Confirm the system is electric, not hydronic (water-based)
- Verify a GFCI breaker is installed on the circuit
- Check that a neutral wire is available in the thermostat electrical box
