First-Time Setup Checklist
Congratulations on your new Mysa smart thermostat! Follow this checklist to get your thermostat installed, connected, and optimized.
Before Installation
- Verify your heating system is compatible with your Mysa model
- Download the Mysa app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- Create your Mysa app account
- Confirm your WiFi network is 2.4 GHz (5 GHz is not supported)
- Have a screwdriver ready for installation
- Locate the circuit breaker that controls your heating zone
Important: Always turn off the circuit breaker for the heating zone before starting installation. Never work with live electrical wires.
Installation
- Turn off the circuit breaker for the heating zone
- Remove your existing thermostat from the wall
- Take a photo of the existing wiring before disconnecting anything
- Identify your wires (line, load, and ground)
- Connect the wires to the Mysa backplate following the included wiring guide
- Mount the backplate to the electrical box
- Attach the Mysa thermostat to the backplate
- Turn the circuit breaker back on
Warning: If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, hire a licensed electrician to install your thermostat. Improper installation can cause damage and will void your warranty.
Tip: The Mysa app includes an interactive installation guide with step-by-step instructions and diagrams for your specific model.
App Setup and Pairing
- Open the Mysa app on your phone
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
- Tap the "+" button to add a new thermostat
- Follow the on-screen instructions to pair via Bluetooth
- Connect the thermostat to your 2.4 GHz WiFi network
- Name the thermostat and assign it to a room/zone
Tip: Keep your phone within a few feet of the thermostat during Bluetooth pairing. If pairing fails, toggle Bluetooth off and on, then try again.
Configure Your Settings
Once your thermostat is connected:
- Set your preferred temperature units (Celsius or Fahrenheit)
- Create a weekly heating schedule based on your routine
- Set your local electricity rate for energy monitoring (found on your utility bill)
- Enable Early On if you want the thermostat to pre-heat your space on schedule
- Explore zone grouping if you have multiple Mysa thermostats
Connect Smart Home Integrations (Optional)
If you want voice control or home automation:
- Apple HomeKit: Open the Apple Home app and scan the HomeKit code on your Mysa
- Google Home: Search for the Mysa integration in the Google Home app
- Amazon Alexa: Enable the Mysa skill in the Alexa app
- Samsung SmartThings: Add the Mysa integration in the SmartThings app
Note: Smart home integration setup is done after initial app pairing. See our Smart Home Integrations Overview article for detailed instructions.
Verify Everything Is Working
- Confirm the thermostat displays the current room temperature
- Test that you can adjust the temperature from both the thermostat and the app
- Verify your heating system turns on when the set temperature is raised above room temperature
- Check that your schedule is set and active
- Confirm WiFi connection is stable (shown in the Mysa app)
